AI Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer

As an AI Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer you'll work directly with our clients' teams: scoping the real use case, building the system, evaluating it rigorously, and getting it into production. One week you're designing a retrieval pipeline, the next you're running evals or pairing with a client's engineers to ship.
What you'll do
- Embed with client teams to find where AI and search create real leverage, and rule out the noise.
- Build narrow, production-grade AI systems: retrieval, agents, evaluation pipelines, and the glue around them.
- Design and run rigorous evals so we ship on evidence, not vibes.
- Take systems from prototype to production, owning reliability, latency, and cost.
- Translate between business stakeholders and engineering reality, and bring the discipline to keep projects focused.
What we're looking for
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and fluency in Python.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs: RAG, agents, prompt and context engineering, or fine-tuning.
- A product instinct: you build for real users, not idealized ones.
- Comfort working directly with clients and owning ambiguous problems end to end.
- A bias for shipping and measuring, backed by solid evaluation habits.
Nice to have
- Experience deploying AI systems in production at scale.
- Background in search / information retrieval.
- Experience running technical workshops or enabling client teams.
- Open-source contributions or technical writing.
